Benita is a Pura Belpre Honor Book!

I have great news! Benita y las criaturas nocturnas/Benita and the Night Creatures is a Pura Belpre Honor Book. As you may know, the Pura Belpre is a prestigious award given each year by the American Library Association (ALA) to work that "best portrays, affirms, and celebrates the Latino cultural experience in an outstanding work of literature for children and youth." (See https://www.ala.org/awardsgrants/awards/4/all_years).

It's a thrill to have been selected as one of the honor books this year 2024. The award ceremony is in June in San Diego, and I am looking forward to receiving the award in person and giving my speech.
